Grabbit Sewing Tools is a family owned and operated business with a commitment to creating inventive sewing products and to providing outstanding customer service. Our goal is to supply the sewing community with quality products that simplify sewing endeavors and stand the test of time.
Grabbit Sewing Tools was founded in 1980 by John and Feather King. It began in response to Feather's own frustration with the "pin situation" that was a fact of life for the home sewer. An avid seamstress since the age of 10, she had contended with stray pins on the floor discovered by poked bare feet, piles of pins next to the sewing machine and on the ironing board, and most distressing, spilled pins all over everywhere from out of knocked-over boxes. She devised an ingenious solution to these occurrences in the form of Grabbit Magnetic Pincushion which picks up loose pins with a single swipe over them and "catches" pins "thrown" in its general direction. Since then, our line has expanded to 12 different products all of which provide similar handy functionality.
Grabbit Magnetic Pincushion was so unique that it created an entirely new niche in the sewing arena for the handling of pins. Subsequent products such as BobbinSaver bobbin holder have continued innovative solutions to sewing issues. Assembly of the original product consisted of Feather alone at her kitchen table cleaning, pinning and boxing pincushions and shipping them to the first customers. Though we now have more workers to put things together and more products, we are still small with just a team of a few employees and a "plant" that consists of a shop building and assembly room in the country. Our image of our operation is a little like a family who lives over the store.
Feather is continually working to improve existing products if she sees better solutions and retreats to her sewing room pursuits which inspire the ideas for new helpful tools.
